Estbek House is an AA Rosette awarding winning restaurant with four bedrooms situated in Sandsend, a pretty coastal village on the edge of the North Yorkshire moors, close to the seaside town Whitby with a sandy beach only 10 yards from its front door! Estbek House has been tastefully renovated and restored by owners Tim Lawrence and David Cross. At Estbek House you can be assured of a warm friendly welcome and you will enjoy a genial and pleasurable visit whether you are there to dine or to stay awhile.
As we all know, first impressions count and when you step down into the courtyard you will notice a green door in the corner which invites you to enter. What lies behind that green door is a quite a surprise! As you enter through that door you will walk into a small but very stylish black marbled bar with an adjacent open-plan kitchen area! In the bar you can sit and relax giving you plenty of time to peruse at the menu, discuss the food with Tim and then your wine selection with David. As you sit and enjoy your pre-dinner drinks, you can watch Tim, who is also Estbek House’s chef, together with his assistant James, busily preparing the finest quality food into delectable dishes especially for you. Estbek House’s menu contains dishes chosen on the seasonality of local fresh foods. The freshest wild fish plays a major rôle whilst Estbek House’s very own chickens providing the eggs for the restaurant! Estbek House boasts a contemporary and comprehensive wine list specially selected by David whose expertise and knowledge of his wines means that his recommendations are always a perfect foil to Tim’s food. When ready for you, you will be guided upstairs to the comfortable and stylish restaurant by one of the good-natured waiting staff.
Estbek House has two dining rooms and the atmosphere of both is stylish, relaxed but never stuffy. Tim and David’s attention to detail is of paramount importance to them and this shows in everyway and in the excellent service that they and their amiable staff provide. Estbek House is ideal for a special occasion romantic meal, catching up with friends, or for those special events in life such as a birthday or wedding reception. Estbek House does not request any pre-ordering of meals for larger parties and Tim, David and their staff will always remember that it’s your special day. As there are two dining rooms larger parties can have their own private dining room which makes any occasion feel that extra-special.
The four bedrooms at Estbek House are very tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable and welcoming. The bedrooms and bathrooms have all the treats you would expect from a top hotel such as chocolates and bathing goodies. Breakfast is taken in the bar area and is a fortifying start to the day. Whether you order a full English or a lighter breakfast, one thing is for certain, however you choose to have your eggs cooked they will be freshest, sunniest yellow, best-ever tasting eggs, as they will have laid by Estbek House’s happy chickens who live in the back garden! Even the homemade bread and homemade marmalade at Estbek House makes the toast extra-special. Enjoy your visit!
